Pocket Tanks is an old-school artillery game that features relaxed gameplay for those who are looking for a casual time. It’s a bit monotonous, and the graphics haven’t been updated since 2001, but it’s still a playable game.
One or two people at a time can enjoy this
The game comes with either solo or hot-seat two-player gameplay. Each person picks the same kind of tank but with a different color and are left to duel in a randomly generated battlefield.
Neither tank can move, all you can do is change the angle of the shot and its power. Once you have that figured out, you choose one of the many weapons that are available, shoot and then hope for the best.
Pocket Tanks is a bit anticlimactic when it comes to the gameplay. It’s no Worms, and the atmosphere is dull most of the time. If you’re looking for a laidback artillery game that works well, this one will do just fine but if you want a bit more action, there is a good chance you’ll fall asleep playing it.
Interesting weapons to use in your battles
One thing artillery games have had going well were the weapons. Pocket Tanks holds up a good in that regard and offers 30 creative and powerful ways in which you can damage or obliterate your opponent.
Apart from those that come free with the game, there’s also the possibility of purchasing additional ones to expand the arsenal and make things a bit more interesting. But even so, with more to choose from, Pocket Tanks still feels lifeless; it’s a nice game, it’s just not all that engaging.
A casual game for an equally casual time
To wrap it up, Pocket Tanks might not make your heart race but you will hold your breath on multiple occasions, when hoping for the enemy projectile to miss.
